Robotics
Students are expected to apply the knowledge they have learned during school into an after school class. FIRST or VEX Robotics programs provide the unique opportunity to
work together on a team with adult mentors. The opportunity to gain experience working collaboratively with adults is critical for your college and career preparation.  Robotics meets on Wednesday nights from 6:00-9:00pm. You will receive credit on your transcript. Universities typically give additional points toward your potential acceptance during the enrollment process for being part of robotics. For example, it is not uncommon to see an application that has a box for you to check if you were involved in a FIRST Robotics program. Make sure you add this to you college application write up. You will need to take Robotics for one year to complete the Engineering Academy requirement. As an Engineering Pathway route you can take Robotics in any configuration. FIRST Robotics has over 50 million dollars in scholarships available to students that participate, as well as, VEX through the RECF has 4.5 million available in scholarships.
